Bounce house! Just say it, even if you haven’t a clue what one is and somehow a FUN button is pressed on the inside… BOUNCE HOUSE…!!!

Be a kid again. Can you imagine feeling bored at a party where the main activity revolves around having full permission to bounce, jump, fall, throw yourself about, toss balls, slam against walls, slide, scream and tumble into piles with your friends? Can you imagine being a child and not being scolded but encouraged to do so? What a dream. But it gets better.

If you’re a beach kid that lives in the city and suddenly you have a Beach Jump House in your backyard! Or you’re crazy to be a fireman and suddenly, on your birthday, there’s a Fire Truck Jump House for you and your friends to play firemen games until you drop. Or you’re into fairytales and there, just for you, is your very own Ball Kingdom , Jump Castle, Magic Castle, Palace, Magical Kingdom, Princess Dreamland or Kings Castle Bounce House.

Perhaps you’re a kid who dreams of adventure and you can’t believe your eyes when a Rainforest Rapids Bounce House or a Jungle Bounce House or Bounce Tiger or Wild Reef Bounce House is your birthday present –with your own Water Park, slide and bouncing trampoline with river rapids and a jungle for you to conquer.

Or perhaps you look out your bedroom window on the day of your birthday and find a Bounce ‘N Slide Club House for you and your friends to share bouncing secrets. Maybe dad remembered you’re a futuristic kid and brought you a Bounce Rocket or a Moonwalker Bounce House. It won’t matter if there’s cake or balloons or presents because the party will a bouncing lot of fun!

If you’re a parent and want to put on a fantastic children’s party don’t underestimate the value of nothing more than JUMPING. You can hire clowns to get children to laugh, you can fill the house with balloons and expensive presents, you can order the most delicious ice-cream cakes and invite the coolest kids in the area and none of it will compare to the laughter and smiles and giddy excitement that one simple house of bounce will produce. The laughter will fill the air and your biggest problem will not be whether or not everyone has a smile on their face but that the gleeful children don’t work themselves into a frenzy of TOO MUCH FUN!

And what’s the cost of such childhood bounce house bliss?

That somewhat depends on where you live, what’s available and how much you want to spend.

Will you use a bounce house rental service?

Will bounce house rentals deliver and pick up in your area?

How large a bounce house will you require?

How many children will attend the party?

Will you purchase a small bounce house or buy a large one for use at other parties as well?

Can you find a bounce house for sale in your area or have it shipped from abroad?

Do you want a bounce house trampoline, a water slide or a castle bounce house?

Do you have a blower for an inflatable bounce house or will you have to purchase or rent one?

Do you have a dolly to move it between uses?

Is there electricity near where you want to set up the house or will you need to rent a generator?

Will your backyard have space for two or more inflatable bounce houses?

Is it nice enough weather to use an inflatable water slide?

Is it winter and you’d prefer the children had an enclosed castle bounce house?

What other party rental equipment will you need?

Any birthday party for kids can be expensive, and all the little nothings you choose can quickly add up. The benefit to planning a bounce party is that you can forget almost all other forms of entertainment and put the budget toward one focus – bouncing! There are two main ways to calculate your costs. One is using a bounce house rental service and the other is finding a bounce house for sale and buying it outright.

Castle Bounce houses are not only great for children`s birthday parties but are also fantastic for mini festivals and school fund raisers or even community parties that may involve your neighborhood or even a local charity.

Bounce House Rental Checklist

One thing you will want to check when renting a bounce house is that when the bounce house is delivered for your party it is clean. Since they are places where children tend to go a little wild, be sure there isn’t any nasty remains of a previous party, or better yet, check that the bounce house rental company guarantees their cleanliness and find out how they do this.

Be sure that your fun bouncer for your child’s birthday party or the block party you are organizing will be happy and safe. If the bouncer is for a company picnic, a fundraiser or a small festival, be sure you will have enough adult supervision.

If it is for a family reunion, BBQ or private function, be sure the adults are notified in advance that there will be a bounce house, inflatable castle, jumparoo or moonwalk, or a water slide, and that it may be a little different than other types of parties they may have attended.

Please be sure to have enough space and remember that a bounce house is usually 15 feet by 15 feet and if it has a slide will require 30 feet for the slide area. These rentals are not ideal for small backyards.

There are some inflatable slides that are 25 feet long and 11 feet wide, but they are quite tall at about 18 feet and so usually must be in a totally open space. Minimum slide space needed is around 30×15 and 24 feet overhead.

Make sure the area where the bouncer is to be inflated is smooth. Grass is fine, in fact the best. Cement is okay too, but if unfinished it may be abrasive and so may need to be covered with a carpet or indoor-outdoor runners or something to protect the bouncer from wear.

How many Children can bounce at Once?

In a standard rental bounce house that is 15 X 15 it is reasonable to allow about 10 eight year old children to bounce at once. For older children upwards of 9 years old, you will allow only about 6 to bounce at any one time. Young teens are also okay, but no more than 4 or 5 at once. That is why some people rent two or more bounce houses so there isn’t a line-up.

Bounce House Safety

There are some safety rules that bounce house rental companies will explain to you in detail, however inflatable bounce houses are designed for an even distribution of weight and size and therefore the same size of children regardless of their ages should bounce together. There are some party bouncing statistics that say that inflatable houses and castles and moonwalks can withstand more girls and toddlers than boys.

However, even if the weight restrictions and size and capacity suggestions didn’t exist, you’d want to divide the bouncing time into 10 or 15 minutes blocks so the children don’t overheat and get fatigued too quickly. There are also some games that can be played to ease the crazy throwing and slamming that may otherwise occur.

What keeps the inflatable bouncer standing? Does the air leak out?

It is not an issue of air leaking out of a bounce house because an inflatable bouncer is connected to a blower and this blower will usually remain running at all times while children are bouncing. Only when you wish to stop bounce activity can it be turned off.

How safe is a castle bounce house, trampoline or slide?

Children are throwing themselves around and jumping crazily inside a house made of air. It is logical that they may bang into each other, bump heads and receive bruises and scrapes. However, if the children do not have sharp objects or shoes or jewelry or any other objects inside the house of bounce then chances are there will be few troubles or safety issues. The key is parental or adult supervision.

An inflatable bounce house is NOT a place to put the children so you can go off and do your own thing. Stay nearby and watch and laugh with the children and if anyone gets too crazy give a warning and take breaks every 15 minutes or so and that should make for a happier bouncing experience for all concerned.

Can Adults Bounce in Inflatable Bounce Houses?

The only firm rule that exists for all bounce houses is one that is very unfortunate. There are no adults allowed. People over 16 should not attempt to bounce. Eight to ten is the ideal age for the large bounce houses. It’s not because an adult will damage a bounce house and the bounce rental agencies are protecting their property, in fact it’s the adult that may hurt himself or herself and not the bouncer. Bouncers are for children or young teens.

There are bounce houses that are not the giant play areas for crowds to jump in, but are designed specifically for toddlers and very young children. These bounce house inflatables can be set up in a basement or living room or play room and may cost as little as $45.

One is called the Castle Bouncer, which is a small castle inflatable bouncer that a 3 year old can play in every day. It’s small at only 85 inches by 76 inches. This bounce house comes with a set of balls. It can be ordered online.

Bounce House Review

These small indoor bouncers for young children and toddlers have been widely used and therefore there are many parents who have commented on their safety and practicality as well as their usefulness and durability. An inflatable bounce house can be a great place for a child to exercise instead of sitting in front of the TV.

One family who decided to buy an inflatable bounce house for their 2 year old said they used it every day. After a couple weeks the inflatable bouncer got a hole, but they said it was easily repaired. Some bounce house owners have commented that your toy should not be overly filled because that can make them susceptible to damage.

Another mother has commented on buying one and being so happy with it that she has bought more than one over the years. She says that a bouncer, if used daily or very frequently, will last about a year, but since the indoor varieties are so inexpensive, under $100, it’s not an issue to replace them because children absolutely love them.

There have been a few parents who were unhappy with their purchase because they also had pets. Their bouncers had frequent holes due to pets entering the inflatable toy and causing them to deflate. It seems that if you have dogs and cats in the same space where you want to put a bouncer, this will not be a good idea.

An Indoor/Outdoor Bounce House

A very famous brand for small to medium bounce house trampolines and castle bounce houses is the one that is made by Little Tikes, and the most popular appears to be the 5 in 1 Super Sports Inflatable Bouncer. It can be used indoors or outdoors, but if it will be for indoor usage then be sure that you have sufficient space because it is 10 feet by 10 feet by 7 feet high.

Most owners have found it to be best outside. But it may be the best activity centre in the house because it includes 2 basketball goals, 6 baskets along the walls, soccer and hockey goal and a volleyball net suspended in the middle. Be careful with the hockey sticks. This is good for children over 3 years of age. Don’t forget that children in bounce houses, no matter if they are completely enclosed and have mesh netting, will require adult supervision.

Since bouncers are primarily an outdoor activity they are most suitable in regions where the weather is predictable, or during summer months. However, there always exists the possibility that there will be bad weather.

Bounce House Rental and bad weather Refunds

Most inflatable bounce house rental companies will not give you credit if you were unable to use the bouncer due to bad weather. Once it is set up, it must be paid for. However, if it is raining when the bouncer is intended to be set up, the rental company will cancel your rental at no charge. Most rental companies will not install or set up a bounce house in inclement weather, not even rain.

Inflatable Bounce House Tips

In a bounce house do not allow children to enter if they have shoes, sharp objects, glasses, party favors, jewelry, watches, gum, hats, food r drinks.
No sprays, even fun things like silly string! Most chemicals will melt vinyl bounce houses.

Bounce houses are intended for bouncing so it is not recommended to allow anyone to sit or lay down in them. Someone could come and jump on a person who is lying down and too relaxed to be on guard.

It is also not a good idea to allow acrobatics inside an inflatable house of any kind. Flips and somersaults are good in a gym, not in a play area with 8or 10 other bouncing companions.

Dogs and cats should not be allowed in or near bounce houses for obvious reasons.

The inflatable bouncer should be inflated and connected to the blower as long as any child is bouncing inside. Should the blower be unplugged all children should stop bouncing and leave the bounce house

An inflatable bounce house is a safe and fun form of entertainment that is healthy. The bounce experience can be enhanced to be even more entertaining if some games are added to the fun of bouncing.

Bounce House Games for your Bounce Party Success

An adult, from outside the bounce house, can start a game that the children may continue. For example a style of bounce may be called out – perhaps an animal or types of movement like how a robot might jump or how a bouncing car or motorcycle might bounce. The bounce style should then match the type of bounce called out. Perhaps it will be an animal for younger children – a kangaroo or a rabbit or a frog or even the action of bouncing like a fire engine or airplane. Every few minutes the style of bounce is called out and the action changes.

There can also be games that prohibit laughter. The first to laugh is out.

Balls and balloons can be added to inflatable bounce houses and children can pop them, toss them, and even throw them at each other since they are light and harmless.

There are variations on tag that can be crazy inside a house of bounce. Trying to tag another bouncer could result in hilarious tumbles and pile-ups.

Adults can suggest variations of the game ‘freeze’ also known as red light green light or other simple games that will depend on the bouncers’ ages.

If using a bounce house rental service is not what you desire, and you’d prefer to own your own bouncer there are several options available. Naturally you can also find a rental bounce house for sale…at a price.

Inflatable Bounce Houses to Own

To own the same models that are used by the bounce house rental companies, they will cost you upwards of $1,500. However there are smaller castle bouncers and moonwalkers that you can own for around $300. They are not suitable for large crowds of children, but may be adequate for smaller gatherings and for younger children, for example the Draco Inflatable Jumper is under $400, and the Draco Magic Dragon Enchanted Castle bounce house is for up to 3 children and is 10 feet by 10 feet and can hold 80 lbs.

Also a newer bounce house called the Blast Zone Magic Castle Bounce House which is good for children from 3 – 8 years of age. It is larger than the original Blast Zone castle bounce house and can withstand about 3 children. It comes with a slide as well as the bounce house castle. It can be set up outdoors or inside if you have a large indoor space. It comes with a blower.

Larger Bounce House Inflatables

Castle Bounce House by Magic Jump (is a good price for what they offer) at $1,500.It is very similar to what you’d get from a bounce house rental. It is a castle design and measures 15 feet by 15 feet and is 14 feet high. It can withstand 220 lbs, comes with a blower and holds about 6 children. There is a smaller version of the same bounce house castle that measures 13 feet by 13 feet and also is 14 feet high, but can only withstand 170 lbs of weight which means it works for 5 simultaneous bouncers. The smallest of these castle bounce houses is 10 feet by 10 feet and only 12 feet high. This version can hold up to 4 children with a total weight of 110 lbs.

There is an inflatable bouncer called the Double Shot Bouncer with Slide, which is a dual slide and bouncer unit for a good price of $550 which permits 5 bouncers and 300lbs. it is designed to play games and comes with PVC balls and hoops and nets for games outside the inflatable bounce.

Between $600 and $900 there are a variety of inflatable bouncers and moonwalkers and castles and slides you can choose from. Some of the most popular ones are the hydroblast Inflatable Water Park or the Aqua Adventure Inflatable Water Park for outdoor and wet usage.

The Safari Jumper Inflatable Bouncer and the Kaleida Disco Jumper Inflatable Bouncer are unusual because of their theme. The first is a bouncer that lends well to jungle animal games and smaller children’s parties, while the disco jumper inflatable bounce house is good for older children who may like flashing lights and music as they bounce and mimic being at a disco.

For young boys there is the Disney Pixar Cars Inflatable Water Slide and Bouncer and for the ultimate crazy bouncer and water park combination there is a Banzai Hydroblast water park that comes with 3 slides, 2 lane racing and a giant splash pool! It’s 18 feet long so make sure you have enough space to set it up. It’s good for 5 year olds and up.
